$15 early Bird $20 @ door

Duration

1hr Every 3rd Wednesday

About the Course

Dao Yoga builds body of steel, well surpassing any temporary benefits of commercial grounding mats. It incorporates elements of Tao, Qi Gong and Tai Chi movement meditations that calms the mind while opening energy channels within our bodies for self-healing. Tai Chi grounding techniques such as corkscrew are further explored to greatly improve energy levels, physical balance and strength, and open the joints.

Additionally, yoga flow of isometric, eccentric, and plyometric exercises as well as standing stretches with pnf components complements Dao practices.  Emphasis on tendons and bones to support your structure rather than muscle strength, conserves energy and vitality. All finess levels are welcome. When you RSVP please let us know if pregnant and trimester. Modifications will be provided.

When practiced consistently, these exercises, in addition to dietary changes, help reverse degenerative diseases such as rheumatoid and osteo arthritis, fibromyalgia and lupus. Iron Shirt Chi Kung introduces the basics of Breathwork, Inner Smile, Microcosmic Orbit, and spinal alignment as building blocks necessary to enjoy further movement meditations. The more advanced practices include the basic Iron Shirt Meditation, Turtle, Golden Urn, Buffalo, Bone Marrow Breathing, Tendon Nei Kung, and various Tao Tai Chi forms and exercises.

Emphasis on special breathwork with muscle contractions is placed from the beginning and throughout. With consistent practice such breathwork creates compression, massaging the organs and facilitates the movement of Qi energy.  These compressions engage the fascia allowing it to store energy.  Interestingly, the fascia is also capable of inflating not only to massage, but also to protect your vital organs.  You can visualize an inflated tire protecting the wheel or two infated balloons, one inside the other, protecting an egg. Good body mechanics result from good structure and breathwork, which preserve and circulate energy while building strength at any age.  Individualized intensity modifications will be offered with some fun partner activities.
